I'm doing something silly wrong here, apparently. When editing a mp4 file I am able to make three selections to delete, leaving two clips to preserve, but when I click "save video" only the longer clip is saved (and incidentally the clip points on it are off by a second or so).

If I select "Split by Selections" then the three selections are properly deleted and the remaining two desired clips are properly saved separately, but I would like them to be saved as one joined file.

What am I doing wrong here?

Yes, Nikky, I had used the guide before and did expand it to show the 'by selection' option to see more guidance.

But let's just take it one thing at a time.

First the problem with start time:

The original file is 01:46:42.667 long, and I need to clip a desired section out of the middle. I did an experiment today to try to understand why the timing of the 'cut' file is not correct.

I set "Beginning Selection" at 00:18:53.482, and set "End Selection" at 01:45:39.567. Invert selection, and press "Save Video".

The result should be a file that is 1:26:46:085 long, the but resulting "cut" file begins 5 seconds late at about 00:18:58 and is only 1:26:41 long – about 5 seconds short. (The "cut" file appears to ends at the proper frame as nearly as I can tell.)

If I try moving the start point back about 5 seconds, the resulting 'cut' file actually begins where I set the start point, and the 'cut' file is correct – but it is not what I want. If I move the start point back only a second, then the 'cut' file still begins late at the same place, about 00:18:58. So as nearly as I can tell the software is inconsistent, at least with the start time of the 'cut' file. None of this makes any sense. I can not get the start point to produce the 'cut' file I want.

So, I'm not sure I see the point of having "frame" resolution In Video Editor for setting the selection beginning if the actual implemented selection is about 4 or 5 seconds later.

    Am I missing something here?

    Thanks for your help.
