MP3 audio presets “INSANE”, “EXTREME” and “STANDARD” are highly tuned for utmost quality via blind listening tests by The LAME Project. Our programs use these presets by default, whereas other programs do not have them at all or hide them deep in options from users.

“INSANE” preset uses the maximum bit rate (320 kbps) and gives the highest MP3 quality though with unreasonable space.
“EXTREME” is more than just excellent quality (220 – 240 kbps) for very demanding users with hi-tech system for playback of such files.
“STANDARD” produces reasonable size and excellent quality (180 – 190 kbps) which is barely different from the original, thus it is the most recommended preset.
